Building Confidence
TRAIN THE TRAINER
The Conflict Resolution Manual curriculum, written in partnership with American University’s Department of International Conflict Resolution and Peace, is delivered to 100 scholars per week. It includes a Train the Trainer component to enable youth scholars to become instructors at the completion of their instruction and simulation.
The first five months of the program are focused on ACM Credible Messengers delivering the training to the youth once a week. After the scholars receive all the required instruction in the Train the Trainer model, it will be their turn to give the entire curriculum back to ACM and the Chester Community Charter school Credible Messengers. During this portion they will demonstrate what they learned, build their confidence around presenting, and gain their own training certificate. By the end of the school year, the youth who have achieved their training certificates will then graduate from the program to become trainers for future cohorts.
The Alliance of Concerned Men provided Conflict Resolution Train the Trainer workshops nationally and internationally as a standalone curriculum for violence prevention specialists. ACM currently facilitates Conflict Resolution workshops for over 70 youth weekly in the Greenway Southeast community.
